ESBWM member Sondra Kasserman was recognized with a Civic Leadership Award during the Missouri Municipal League West Gate Region Annual Dinner on July 21, 2016. The award was presented by Wood Heights Mayor Robert Pettegrew, left, and R.L. Scharfen, President of the West Gate Division of MML.

Sondra has been Wood Heights’ City Clerk since October 2011. She serves as an Assistant Administrator under the direction of the Mayor. Federal and state mandates relating to smaller cities require new and better methods of implementing and managing required criteria. She continually finds new and better ways to ensure compliance with each agency’s requirements.

As a member of the Western Division Missouri City Clerk’s and Finance Officers Association, Sondra has served as Secretary in 2014. She brings credit to herself and the city through her knowledge and professionalism. Sondra’s “networking” skills are excellent and she has brought new ideas and a more efficient way of handling projects and implementing new policies to the City. The back of the city’s water bill now includes a schedule of events and notices to better educate Wood Heights citizens.

A city park project, the coordination of training opportunities for staff, the opportunity for City employees to enroll in Aflac insurance at a lesser cost, the use of Job Corps students for city projects; these are but a few improvements which have benefited the City and can be attributed to Sondra. Sondra functions as Wood Heights’ Assistant City Manager, Human Resources Director, Finance Director and City Clerk.

Congratulations, Sondra, for recognition well earned!
