Overview of Individual Growth Program

The Individual Growth Program is BWM’s seminar series in personal and professional leadership development. The program will assist people to succeed in meeting their personal and professional goals, as well as their goals for community action and change.
The modules are:
Overview: The Individual Growth Program was developed to provide training and practice opportunities in public speaking, general communication and job performance skills for women. Also it introduces participants to the mission and vision of Business Women of Missouri. The Individual Growth Program is often referred to by the initials IGP or just IG. As the organization of BWM evolves to meet the needs of our membership and today’s working women, the programs that help our members grow in their personal and professional lives are also evolving. Updated modules will incorporate new resources and communication tools, such as online activities, videos and more. An overview was designed to provide information to each participant before beginning with Module 1.
Module 1: Get to Know Yourself – Understanding peers and employees behavioral and communication styles – managing for improved performance. Participants will learn to identify stereotyping and its impact on behavior, as well as receive a chart of the DISC Model of Human Behavior to recognize communication differences.

Module 2: Creating Effective Presentations – Learn how to create presentations. Participants will become familiar with presentation elements and aspects, learn techniques to inspire audiences, learn techniques to overcome presentation anxiety, and learn how to create a powerful presentation.

Module 3: Personal Branding and Business Etiquette – Provide participants a branding overview. Learn 5 tips for a strong personal brand. Provide examples of an elevator speech. Write an elevator speech. Have fun while networking with others.

Module 4: How to Prepare for a Job Interview – Participants will utilize information about DISC behaviors and examine their own strengths, talents, and abilities. Participants will learn to prepare for an interview. Participants will learn how to follow-through after an interview. Participants will practice interview techniques.

Module 7: Simplified Rules of Order – Running a meeting is parliamentary. Using parliamentary process can streamline any meeting and committee. Participants will learn to effectively and efficiently chair a meeting, make or amend a motion, and cover basic parliamentary process and terminology.
