The Excelsior Springs Business Women of Missouri chapter were part of a volunteer effort to provide services to area homeless. A Project Homeless Connect event was held Friday, Oct. 27. ESBWM members provided the offer of free resumes for those seeking employment.
Over 25 service providers were available and about 30 families received help during the day. State President Sheila Miller provided coffee to participants and volunteers. A hot lunch was provided by the Excelsior Springs Hospital and served by culinary arts students from the Job Corps Center.
Project Homeless Connect provided a One Day … One Stop … One Community event. There are 12 to 15 chronically homeless living in Excelsior Springs at any one time. There are many other persons and families who need homeless services because they are living doubled-up with family or friends, at risk of homelessness, in Clay and Ray counties. This event helped to connect those people with needed services.
