Business woman Kim Meadows, owner of The Mug coffee shop in downtown Excelsior Springs, was awarded the 2017 Community Activist Award. The award is presented annually to a woman showing exceptional service to the community, promoting women in business and women’s issues. Kim was chosen as an outstanding business woman who opened a small coffee shop that became a favorite community meeting place. She responded to the needs of her customers and added breakfast items to her menu, followed by lunch items, followed by prepared grab-and-go lunches for the convenience of working people.
She and her husband, Rob Meadows, owner of BobKorn in downtown Excelsior Springs, are getting ready to expand their business venues with the renovation of the historic “stone building” on the corner of Thompson and Spring streets. The new facility will provide an expanded venue, menu and their own hometown coffee roasting business!
Congratulations, Kim. You are a great example of how a woman can take a dream and share it with an entire community!
